Position Supervised Assistant Coach and Resident Assistant(s)

Job Description POSITION SUMMARY

The Head Volleyball Coach is responsible for the organization and administration of NEO’s intercollegiate volleyball program. This position shall ensure that the program is of the highest possible quality on a regional and national level and is consistent with the College’s goals, culture, and mission. The Resident Director is responsible for all administrative, educational, and supervisory tasks of the assigned residence hall(s).

The Head Resident will coordinate with the Housing Director and Student Services Coordinator to develop educational, student development, safety and wellness programming for residents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Head Volleyball Coach
  • Organizes and administrates the following areas of the NEO Volleyball program:
    • Recruiting
    • Budget and Fund Raising
    • Strategy and Tactics
    • Program Organization:
      Practice Plans, Scheduling, Travel Arrangements, Home Game Management, etc.
    • Coaching Staff
    • Discipline, Morale and Residential Living of Student Athletes
  • Academic monitoring and instruction for student athletes
  • Instruction of athletic and personal skills
  • Provides leadership and role modeling to the college community, including the administration, assistant coach, student athletes, faculty, staff, officials, and boosters.
  • Inspires cooperation and communication between the Volleyball program and college constituents.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to the rules of the NJCAA.
  • Provides supervision of NEO student athletes.
  • Serves as the College spokesperson to external constituencies pertaining to the NEO Volleyball program.
  • Exhibits and inspires good sportsmanship and person character.
  • Engages in additional activities and duties as assigned by the President, AVPAA or Director of Athletics.
Resident Director
  • Select, train and supervise resident assistants
  • Maintain office hours for students in assigned halls
  • Supervise and perform the administrative responsibilities of the residence halls assigned:
    • opening and closing
    • evaluate room conditions
    • room assignment and check-in
    • maintaining student housing contracts and files
    • maintain updated roster
    • conduct room checks
    • request appropriate maintenance and repair for residence halls assigned
  • Develop, maintain, and provide training on emergency procedures for residence halls
  • Coordinate with campus departments to develop educational, student development, safety and wellness programming for residents
  • Conduct and supervise room check for residents
  • Address discipline issues and process student write-up or referral to campus police/student conduct as appropriate
  • Develop a community atmosphere for residents
  • Provide opportunities for student engagement and create a living learning environment for residents
  • Coordinate with the Residence Life Council for hall activities and events
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree required (or working towards degree)
  • Previous college coaching experience
