Job DescriptionEssential Functions of Employment with DLO:
Show up for work, on time & prepared each scheduled work day. Perform all tasks and processes assigned to you, including duties you are fully qualified to perform and those you may be over-qualified for. Maintain a positive, supportive attitude throughout each day and work as a collaborative team member with your fellow teammates on a daily basis. Perform testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Serology, Microbiology, and Blood Banking in a hospital environment.
Monitor QC and corrective action documentation weekly. Oversee work performance of bench‑level techs and phlebotomists. Act as the lab's day‑to‑day leader in the absence of the lab supervisor. Ensure lab maintenance of CAP and MQA requirements.
- Understanding of standard laboratory processes and procedures.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Good understanding of laboratory quality assurance standards.
- Good computer skills.
- Ability to lead and coach staff to maintain optimal customer service levels.
- MT or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent.
- 5 years experience in a hospital setting. Previous experience in a leadership role preferred.
- Some phlebotomy tasks will be required.
- Holiday and some weekend rotations required.
- Overtime may be required as staffing levels dictate.
- Must be willing to work outside normal hours to maintain service levels to hospital.
- Lifting and carrying objects: 1-10 lbs frequently; 11-25 lbs occasionally; 36-50 lbs seldom; >50 lbs without assistance.
- Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods.
- Frequent walking and/or standing.
- May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments demanding significant manual dexterity.
