Job DescriptionMiami Public School District is accepting applications for Athletic Director for the school year. Leadership experience with Masters degree in related field preferred. Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate. Three (3) or more years of coaching experience, preferred.
Performance Responsibilities- Administer all aspects of the district’s athletic program in compliance with the program budget, OSSAA rules, and other regulatory guidelines.
- Supervise all coaches, assistant coaches, and trainers.
- Recruit, evaluate, supervise, and recommend employment actions for all coaches, athletic employees, and volunteers pertaining to coaching duties.
- Review and submit a proposal to the Superintendent addressing admissions costs, program budget, equipment and supplies needed, and long‑range planning needs by January 1st of each year.
- Annually review all athletic policies and procedures and submit proposed changes to the Superintendent by May 1st of each year.
- Promote the district’s athletic programs in the school and the community through the development of brochures, press releases, social media, etc.
- Ensure compliance with Title IX and other applicable laws.
- Model and require good sportsmanship of all coaches and players.
- Ensure appropriate arrangements for all visiting teams’ use of district facilities.
- Hire officials, assure health personnel, and security are assigned for all events.
- In conjunction with head athletic coaches, requisition supplies, uniforms, and equipment for athletic programs according to rotation schedule.
- Supervises all fund‑raising events connected with the athletic program, and assures responsibility for proper handling and accounting of monies involved consistent with district policy.
- Is expected to be in attendance at a sufficient number of practices and contests to be able to have knowledge of the quality of the athletic programs, the interaction of student‑athlete with coach, and athlete with athlete, to assure and assist the coach in providing quality athletic programs.
- Attend all school meetings that may impact the athletic program.
- Receipt and deposit gate receipts for all home contests in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Supervise and sign all requisitions from athletic and booster club activity accounts.
- Supervise the care and maintenance of athletic equipment, materials, supplies, and facilities. Order repairs and replacement items as needed in accordance with the district’s purchasing policies and budget.
- Attend and supervise all home sports activities or make arrangements for administrative supervision as needed.
- Coordinate the use of the athletic facilities by the band, sports teams, and other individuals requesting the use of the district’s facilities in accordance with district policy and procedure.
- Ensure that students have an annual physical and receive the required annual health/injury notices. Maintain these and other appropriate records in student files, including insurance and parent consent forms.
- Ensure weekly scholastic eligibility for all athletes.
- Coordinate out‑of‑town activities with the appropriate school principal and transportation director at the beginning of each season.
- Review and submit necessary forms to the payroll clerk to ensure prompt and accurate payment to all athletic department employees.
- Assign and track keys issued to staff for the use of athletic facilities.
- Regularly participate in any conference meetings or other OSSAA meetings as required.
- Regularly participate in appropriate professional development opportunities.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as all board policies and district procedures.
- Utilize professional behavior in all school‑related interactions. Maintain positive relations with staff, students, and the public.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
