Hours Of Operation

Monday through Friday + Overtime/Weekends.

Shift times:
1st

Shift: 5:50 AM – 2:00 PM
2nd

Shift: 1:50 PM – 10:00 PM
3rd Shift: 9:50 PM – 6:00 AM

Job Summary

Operate mechanical packaging equipment, perform set‑ups, make minor adjustments, and identify product quality before and after packaging.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Set up, adjust, and operate mechanical packaging equipment during the shift.
  • Supply and load trays, flexible packaging, or cartons into machines as needed.
  • Observe machine operation at all times.
  • Visually identify quality or bad product before and after it is packed.
  • Remove or sort unacceptable product.
  • Place product or waste into designated color‑coded containers.
  • Read scales to check packaging weights and adjust machines.
  • Read and understand bagger, cartoner, and code date programs.
  • Assist other packaging employees with rewraps.
  • Maintain housekeeping: sweep floor, place trash in containers, pick up product from floor.
  • Work in close proximity to co‑workers with minimal supervision and often independently.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times.
  • Verbally communicate instructions, problems, etc. to co‑workers, supervisors, and employees from all departments.
  • Meet company attendance standards for scheduled start and end times.
  • Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations as prescribed by law.
  • Comply with all company rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical And Mental Requirements
  • Reaching with hands/arms throughout shift.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to see, hear and talk.
  • Lift/carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
  • Able to walk up to 400 yards to work areas.
  • Stand eight hours per shift.
  • Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions and problems.
  • Work in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Repetitive reaching over head, under and across shift.
  • Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, etc.
  • May climb steps to and from work and break areas.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment in close proximity to others.
  • Distinguish colors.
  • Use whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in calculations.
  • Work in variable temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting shift.
  • Work in wet, humid areas.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.
  • Work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to electrical shock, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.

  • Maintain harmonious working relations with employees from all departments.
  • Maintain harmonious working relations with management from all levels.
  • Communicate effectively with all employees and management.
Experience And Skills
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • 3–5 years machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in the baking and/or packaging industry a plus.
  • Basic math and reading skills required.
  • PC skills required.
  • Basic mechanical skills required.
  • Work safely on any shift (8–12 hours/day), weekends, and overtime.
  • Work with minimal supervision and independently at times.
  • Excellent communication, decision‑making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong self‑confidence and leadership skills.
