Position Objectives
  • Must have basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing components and be able to identify them.
  • Must have basic knowledge of types of processing and packaging equipment used in the bakery.
  • Must be able and willing to follow directions as issued by a supervisor.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be polite and possess good housekeeping characteristics.
  • Must be responsible and self‑motivated.
  • Must be honest and trustworthy.
Essential Functions
  • Receiving and stocking items.
  • Picking and issuing items.
  • Returning items to stock.
  • Conducting inventory audits as requested or necessary.
  • Practicing good housekeeping, including cleanup at end of shift.
  • Responsible for the security of the tool room.
  • Following Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.) at all times.
  • Verbally communicating instructions, problems, etc. to co‑workers, supervisors and employees from all departments.
  • Meeting company attendance standards for start and end times of work as scheduled.
  • Complying with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law.
  • Complying with company rules, regulations and policies.
  • Performing other functions as assigned.
  • Reporting any foreign materials found in product or ingredients to a supervisor immediately.
Physical/Man Requirements
  • Reaching with hands/arms throughout shift.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to see, hear and talk.
  • Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
  • Able to walk up to 400 yards to work areas.
  • Communicating in English to give and acknowledge instructions and problems.
  • Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Able to stand eight hours per shift.
  • Repetitive reaching over head, under and across during shift.
  • Push/pull items up to 2600 lbs. with assistance.
  • May crawl under equipment to reach work area.
  • Performing general housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, etc.
  • May climb steps to and from work and break areas.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment in close proximity to others.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Possess basic math skills for counting, adding and subtracting.
  • Ability to work in variable temperature and weather conditions.
  • Repetitive bending, stooping and twisting during shift.
  • Ability to work in wet, humid areas.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
  • Ability to work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to electrical shock, fumes, airborne particles and vibration.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Receptive to new ideas, concepts and/or procedures.
  • Receptive and responsive to constructive criticism.
Working Relationships
  • Maintaining harmonious working relations with employees from all departments.
  • Maintaining harmonious working relations with management from all levels.
  • Communicating effectively with all employees and management.
Experience And Skills
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently.
  • Must be accurate and detail‑oriented.
