Apply for the Class A Tanker Driver – Michigan City position at Standard Logistics
. We are looking for experienced drivers to safely transport freight between terminals, relay stations, and home terminals.
Safely and efficiently operate inter‑city trucks or combination units to deliver freight on time, while loading, unloading, and verifying cargo according to bills of lading and manifest.
Essential Duties- Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, ensuring all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in working order.
- Check shipping papers and load conditions, identify any hazards, and verify documents for accuracy.
- Operate vehicles in full compliance with DOT, OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions, plan routes, and use GPS or other navigation aids to optimize fuel usage.
- Load and unload freight, use safe loading equipment, and secure cargo with tarps, chains, binders, or straps.
- Hook and unhook trailers, maneuver tractor‑trailers safely, and maintain proper vehicle positioning.
- Collect freight charges (CODs) and record all receipts or signatures as required.
- Confirm and document truck weight restrictions, and transport heavy or wide loads in accordance with regulations.
- Maintain driver’s log and meet DOT and state record‑keeping requirements.
- Perform basic maintenance such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, and conduct minor repairs.
- Communicate with the Support Center and customers to provide updates or report delays.
- Maintain a clean vehicle and trailer interior, and report any defects, accidents, traffic violations, or injuries immediately.
- Use telematics and other electronic tools (Omnitracs, FMS, electronic logs) to exchange information with dispatch and supervisors.
- Pass random DOT drug screening per FMCSA regulations.
- Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license and medical certification.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety procedures.
- Intrastate and Interstate driving experience.
- Class A CDL for the state of residence.
- Clean driving record.
- Pass a pre‑employment DOT drug and alcohol screening.
- Stationary position.
- Move/traverse frequently.
- Transport/lifting and carrying often.
- Exert force and use repetitive motions.
- Maintain coordination and balance.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Regular communication via talking and hearing.
