At Forest Area Federal Credit Union, we take pride in serving our members with integrity, financial strength, and exceptional service. We’re seeking a skilled Accountant to help maintain accurate financial records and reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and Credit Union policies.
What You’ll Do- Maintain the Credit Union’s accounting records in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Review, verify, and prepare journal entries, account classifications, and reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and other accounting reports.
- Analyze and interpret financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Process accounts payable and expense transactions; maintain organized records and files.
- Manage and monitor cash balances and assist with ordering cash as needed.
- Partner with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy.
- Support month-end closing processes and produce timely management reports.
- Keep leadership informed of key accounting activities and findings.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in general ledger systems and spreadsheet applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Ability to analyze financial data and communicate findings clearly.
- A team player who values collaboration and professionalism.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in a credit union or financial institution is a plus!
