Senior Accountant – Amcor

Join Amcor’s Rigid Packaging North American Shared Services group as a Senior Accountant. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Sales & General Accounting and focuses on general accounting functions, month‑end close, financial audit, reporting/analysis and technical accounting for acquisitions, restructuring, tax and regulatory compliance. It requires strong stakeholder management and prioritisation skills.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Own month‑end close responsibilities, including foreign‑exchange translation, intercompany transactions, minority interest accounting, acquisition/restructuring accounting, etc.
  • Support financial and pension benefit audit requests and interface with external auditors.
  • Provide support for tax return and provision preparation and grant compliance.
  • Manage North American business insurance policies and reserve accounting.
  • Manage Global office departmental SG&A accounting, planning and analysis.
  • Prepare monthly unaudited financial statements and commentary for JV entity.
  • Develop forecasts and budgets for multiple accounts and entities; analyse variances.
  • Manage restructuring accounting due to footprint changes.
  • Assist with monthly financial data loading, mapping and validation from ERP (SAP) to consolidation system (BPC).
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Lead purchase accounting for business acquisitions, including journal entries, reconciliations, working‑capital adjustments and integration.
  • Research and apply IFRS literature to complex accounting issues; document management position.
  • Ensure strong governance and policy adherence for release of financial information.
  • Lead special projects, prepare presentations for management and drive initiatives across the Shared Service Group.
  • Prepare finance/accounting presentations and special financial reports for management.
  • Support other ad‑hoc activities as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Master’s degree in business/Accounting.
  • Strong systems aptitude; preference for experience with SAP ERP and BPC.
  • 2‑3 years’ experience in a large, complex, multi‑currency, multinational environment.
  • Strong character, integrity and ethics.
  • Professional with overall business acumen.
  • High attention to detail; well‑organised and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task, meet strict deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player who interacts well with others.
