Accounting Manager

Location: Allegan

Description We are looking for an Accounting Manager to support day-to-day financial operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Allegan, Michigan. This role is ideal for someone who can oversee core accounting activities with accuracy, maintain organized records across finance and employee administration, and help ensure timely month-end reporting. The position offers a hands-on opportunity to manage accounting processes, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and related operational documentation in a collaborative office environment.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee end-to-end accounting activities, including payroll support, payables, receivables, and monthly closing tasks.

- Administer payroll processing, verify time records and pay adjustments, and help maintain compliance with payroll tax requirements.

- Record supplier invoices, issue payments, and investigate account differences to keep vendor balances accurate.

- Prepare customer billing, post incoming payments, and monitor past-due accounts to support timely collections.

- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations, review transaction coding, and maintain supporting receipt documentation.

- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account analyses needed to support an accurate month-end close.

- Maintain schedules for balance sheet accounts, prepaid items, deferred revenue, inventory-related adjustments, and fixed assets.

- Support periodic inventory activities, including physical counts and reconciliation of inventory records.

- Assist with administration and recordkeeping for employee benefits, personnel files, company policies, and document retention.

- Maintain external account records such as vendor portals, tax-exemption documentation, and shipment tracking logs as needed. Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting.

- Practical experience using Quick Books Online for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and inventory-related tasks.

- Working knowledge of month-end close procedures, including journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliation.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard business applications.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

- Ability to work primarily in an office setting with occasional support for warehouse or inventory-related activities.

- Capability to lift up to 25 pounds and accommodate additional hours during peak close periods when needed.
