Assistant Principal Job Description The Preschool–8th Grade Building Assistant Principal plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the school, ensuring a safe, productive, and nurturing learning environment for students and staff. This individual will collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to maintain a high standard of academic excellence and school culture.
Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
- Valid state administrative certification (or eligibility to obtain).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of teaching experience (administrative experience preferred).
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and work in a collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with school management software and educational technology.
- Oversee and ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient arrival and dismissal process.
- The Assistant Principal greets students each morning and participates in the rotation with the administrative team.
- Collaborate with staff and parent volunteers to manage traffic flow and address safety concerns.
- Coordinate parent volunteers for crossing guard duties and assign staff for porch duty.
- Serve as the crossing guard once a week on Orchard Dr.
- Supervise students during recess and lunch periods to ensure safety and positive interactions.
- Address and resolve minor conflicts or behavioral issues.
- Work with teachers and the lunch supervisor to secure volunteers for supervision and cleaning.
- Maintain open, transparent, and timely communication with parents and students.
- Address student concerns and parent inquiries effectively.
- Participate in parent–teacher meetings and conferences as needed.
- Lead Back to School Night, Middle School Orientation, and Curriculum Night.
- Implement and uphold school-wide behavioral expectations.
- Edit and revise the behavior rubrics yearly and update them on the school website.
- Follow up on student behavior incidents and ensure accountability measures are in place.
- Communicate with parents about behavior updates and collaborate with teachers and the school social worker.
- Coordinate with the school resource officer as necessary.
- Work closely with the Learning Center team and attend Tuesday morning meetings covering students with accommodation plans and curriculum topics.
- Maintain ongoing collaboration with the administrative team, office staff, and parish staff to support the school's mission and vision.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the Pastor and Business Manager and discuss events, student concerns, and school enhancements.
- Support teachers in implementing best instructional practices and school policies, including quarterly meetings for feedback and co-teaching scheduling.
- Collaborate with the administrative team and teachers to ensure new textbooks and supplemental materials are distributed regularly.
- Receive and review the standards checklist from the education technology specialist quarterly.
- Discuss and implement curriculum improvements at TLC meetings.
- Identify domain goals post STAR testing and ensure teacher follow‑through.
- Maintain curriculum alignment and streamline subject area links with the Ed. Tech specialist.
- Track all teachers’ access to at least 30 hours of professional development per year.
- Collaborate with MANS and maintain the OLV tracking spreadsheet.
- Provide signature sheets for PD sessions and assist in planning and scheduling workshops.
- Serve as liaison to PTO, Dad’s Club, Parish Staff, Finance Council, and School Advisory Committee (SAC).
- Collaborate with the PTO board to plan school events and attend major community events (Fun Fair, Bi‑Annual Auctions, Trunk or Treat, etc.).
- Coordinate with the parish accountant and business manager quarterly to review the school’s budget.
