Position Title: Instructional Coach
Terms: 2025–2026 School Year
Salary: Per RCEA Contract. Full-time, 210 days per year. Funded 100% through Section 31a (At‑Risk). Position is contingent upon continued categorical funding and Board approval. (Teacher Salary Schedule + Extended‑Year Stipend Determined Annually)

Position Summary Reed City Area Public Schools is seeking an experienced, student‑centered educator to serve as an Instructional Coach supporting high‑quality teaching and learning across the district. This role focuses on strengthening Tier 1 instruction, building teacher capacity, and supporting professional growth through collaboration, modeling, and data‑informed coaching. The position is fully non‑supervisory and operates exclusively within Section 31a allowable supports for instructional improvement.
InstructionalCoaching & Support
- Support teachers in strengthening Tier 1 core instruction and ensuring all students receive high‑quality initial teaching before intervention is needed.
- Partner with teachers in coaching cycles to strengthen instruction and improve student engagement.
- Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group coaching centered on evidence‑based teaching strategies.
- Model effective classroom practices, including differentiation, classroom management, and the use of data to guide instruction.
- Engage teachers in reflective conversations that support professional growth.
- Lead learning labs, instructional rounds, and other non‑evaluative observation opportunities.
- Support and mentor new teachers with feedback and guidance aligned to district priorities.
- Help administrators and staff strengthen PLC/HPG structures and routines.
- Plan and facilitate professional development connected to district instructional priorities, MTSS, and school improvement goals.
- Lead learning opportunities during professional development days, staff meetings, PLC/HPG sessions, and job‑embedded settings.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, shared learning, and instructional excellence.
- Maintain records of professional learning activities and participation for 31a reporting.
- Support teachers in analyzing student achievement and progress‑monitoring data.
- Collaborate with staff to adjust instructional plans based on trends and student needs.
- Help identify areas for instructional refinement and develop action steps.
- Work alongside ISD coaches to maintain coherence across district initiatives.
- Partner with district administrators, the MTSS & At‑Risk Systems Coach, and building leaders to align instructional and coaching efforts.
- Participate in PLC/HPG meetings, data discussions, and district instructional planning.
- Assist staff in setting goals and implementing targeted action steps.
- Document coaching cycles, professional learning activities, and collaboration work for audit and APFR purposes.
- Support the Director of State & Federal Programs in maintaining required Section 31a documentation.
Scope This is a teacher leadership role that focuses exclusively on instructional improvement, professional learning, and teacher support. The position carries no administrative, supervisory, or evaluative authority and operates fully within allowable Section 31a activities.
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (required).
- Minimum ten (10) years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Master’s degree in education, curriculum, instruction, or related field (preferred).
- Experience with instructional coaching models such as Jim Knight, Cognitive Coaching, or Adaptive Schools.
- Demonstrated success in implementing evidence‑based instructional practices that strengthen Tier 1 instruction.
- Experience leading PLC/HPG teams or professional learning.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills.
- Experience mentoring or supporting new teachers preferred.
