William G. Mather Elementary School - Munising Public Schools

• Must possess Bachelor’s Degree or Higher AND/OR provide proof of graduation/completion by no later than August 1, 2025,
  AND/OR be eligible for Student Teaching Placement in Fall 2025.
• Must possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education (ZG)
  AND/OR comparable OR provide proof of acceptance in an MDE approved alternative preparation program leading to teacher certification and minimally the ZG Elementary Education endorsement or comparable.
• Must possess the Interim Teaching Certificate (ITC)
  AND/OR be eligible for the Full Year BASIC Substitute Permit from MDE IF a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education (ZG) is not in possession.
• Must successfully complete required fingerprinting and background check.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Love of teaching to and learning from elementary school students.
• Team player willing to work cooperatively with colleagues.
• Ability to develop respect-based relationships with students and parents.
• Willingness to become a member of a close-knit school family

An elementary teacher is responsible to create and implement hands‑on lessons for students to engage in that follow the State Core Curriculum Content Standards for all subjects while maintaining strong classroom management and forming positive relationships with students. MPS currently uses Book Worm reading curriculum and Math Expressions math curriculum, teachers are expected to fully utilize these curriculums. The instructor shall be an integral part of the elementary school team and shall take part in all staff professional development offerings as well as working with colleagues to design mechanisms for program growth, development, and evaluation.

The Instructor also maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.
