St. Stephen Catholic School is seeking a part-time Latin Teacher to serve students in Grades K–8 through a shared-services partnership with our local district. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about classical learning, ecclesial Latin, and forming students in a faith-filled environment.
Compensation is determined by the partnering school district.

Position OverviewThe Latin Teacher will provide developmentally appropriate Latin instruction across grade levels, introducing students to ecclesial Latin for prayer and liturgy
, foundational grammar and vocabulary
, and the etymological roots that enrich English language understanding. The ideal candidate will help students appreciate the role of Latin in the Church, in classical education, and in Catholic intellectual tradition.
This is a part-time position

. Teaching assignments, dates, and period lengths may vary by grade level.
- Teach Latin to students in Grades K–8 using developmentally appropriate methods.
- Emphasize ecclesial Latin, including liturgical prayers, pronunciation, and Catholic tradition.
- Introduce and build foundational Latin grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.
- Support students’ understanding of English through Latin roots and etymology.
- Integrate the principles of classical education across lessons.
- Foster a classroom environment rooted in reverence, order, and joyful discovery.
- Collaborate with school leadership to support consistency across the curriculum.
- Communicate effectively with staff and administration through shared-services expectations.
- Experience teaching or studying Latin;
prior teaching experience preferred
. - Understanding of ecclesial Latin pronunciation and usage for prayer/liturgy.
- Familiarity with classical education principles and developmental stages of learners.
- Ability to create structured, engaging lessons aligned with Catholic identity.
- Must respect and uphold the teachings of the Catholic Church; practicing Catholic preferred.
- Approved by local school district by fulfilling district requirements for hire.
