Job Title: Private Teacher / Life Skills Mentor (Part-Time, Homeschool Support)
Location: Clare, Michigan (in-home + outings/field trips)
Schedule: 2 days per week, flexible hours
Pay: $20/hour (cash, paid weekly)
Start Date: Immediate
We are seeking a caring, creative, and reliable private teacher/mentor to support a 9th grade student who is homeschooled. This role blends traditional academic guidance with practical life skills, hands-on learning, and fun educational experiences. The ideal candidate enjoys teaching, planning engaging activities, and helping a student grow both academically and personally.
ResponsibilitiesProvide academic support with homeschool assignments (9th grade level).
Teach practical life skills, including:
How to start and run a small business
Budgeting, saving money, and using a checking account
Basic cooking and meal preparation
Home organization and cleaning skills
Plan and lead enriching activities such as:
Science experiments
Museum visits, field trips, and nature/outdoor learning
Volunteer opportunities and community involvement
Encourage curiosity, independence, and confidence in learning.
Communicate with parent to align on weekly goals and progress.
Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring teens (formal teaching degree not required).
Strong interest in both academics and hands-on/life skills learning.
Ability to plan creative lessons and outings tailored to the student’s interests.
Reliable transportation for outings and field trips.
Responsible, patient, and positive role model.
2 sessions per week (flexible scheduling, approximately 3–4 hours per session).
$20/hour, paid in cash weekly.
