Job Description Summary
The full-time Welding Faculty member teaches a variety of Welding courses. These classes are primarily held on the Niles, MI campus and may be day or evening hours.
Required QualificationsCandidates must meet one of the following:
- Associate degree or higher in Welding, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Applied Technology, or a closely related field, plus at least two years of relevant industry experience; or
- A recognized welding, apprenticeship, journey-level, or other relevant industry credential, plus at least three years of relevant industry experience; or
- At least five years of documented, progressively responsible industry experience in welding, fabrication, or a closely related field.
- American Welding Society ( AWS ) certification or other relevant industry-recognized welding credentials.
- Associate degree or higher in Welding, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Applied Technology, or a closely related field.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector ( CWI ), Certified Welding Educator ( CWE ), or comparable advanced industry credentials.
- Prior teaching, training, apprenticeship instruction, or workplace mentoring experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares and provides all lecture and laboratory instruction according to the required curriculum
Maintains current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program
Facilitates high quality instruction through the delivery of course content and materials
Utilizes active and collaborative learning strategies and a variety of other pedagogies to engage learners
Demonstrates safety protocols and assures a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff
Demonstrates a deep commitment to every student’s success
Maintains standing as a subject matter expert by remaining current and connected to the field
Serves as a contributing member to the School of Business and Advanced Technology
Serves on college committees
Demonstrates a deep commitment to diversity and treats others fairly, with courtesy, and respect
Brings credit to Southwestern Michigan College through demonstrating the highest level of professionalism
