• Michigan Special Education teaching certification with a Cognitive Impairment (CI) endorsement (required)
• Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Experience supporting elementary-aged students, particularly in special education or similar environments
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
• Adaptability and creativity in teaching strategies
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, encouraging, and respectful classroom climate

• Plan and deliver specialized instruction for a self-contained classroom of elementary students with moderate cognitive impairments
• Develop and manage IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
• Track student progress and adjust teaching methods to support individual learning goals
• Foster a positive, structured environment that encourages academic and social growth
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs
• Collaborate with school staff and support personnel for integrated student care
