BB&E is a full‑service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm headquartered in Northville, Michigan. Our team delivers Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering, and Program/Project Management services to federal and private sector clients throughout the United States.

Position Summary

BB&E seeks an experienced, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented Environmental Project Manager (PM) to support its federal clients. The PM will work directly with existing staff to ensure high‑quality, on‑time, and on‑budget planning, execution, and completion of various projects. The PM will report to Program Managers on all aspects of project delivery, including project planning, subcontractor procurement, scheduling, coordination, field investigation and remediation activities, reporting, client interfacing, and financial tracking.

The role is fully on‑site and requires working from our Northville, MI or Atlanta, GA office five days per week.

Requirements
  • Support client management and development through excellent project delivery
  • Track and manage multiple projects, including concurrent task and project management
  • Perform assigned work in accordance with project schedules, plans, and budgets
  • Review technical documents for detailed analysis of technical approach, compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and ability to meet project objectives
  • Develop project plans for clients (e.g., Risk and Communication Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans, etc.)
  • Direct subcontractors to perform work as outlined in the project‑specific work plans
  • Track, document, and make decisions during field activities
  • Provide site investigation support, including preliminary assessments, remedial investigations, and feasibility studies
  • Work with technical, Proposal Management, and Business Development staff to support proposal development
  • Train and/or supervise staff in field sampling activities, including soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater sampling and the use of field instrumentation
  • Oversee drilling subcontractors during soil borings, monitoring well installations, and other site investigation activities
  • Lead, mentor, and train junior‑ and mid‑level staff to maximize project execution and prepare staff for higher roles
  • Work with the Leadership and Senior Management teams to ensure BB&E core values are followed
  • Travel up to 30% of the time
Key Qualifications
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, working effectively with clients and project teams to execute scope of work in accordance with expectations, while meeting financial and schedule metrics
  • Problem‑solving skills and commitment to a studies/remediation community of practice
  • Technical writing experience: documenting meeting discussions and preparing meeting minutes
  • Experience managing and executing multi‑media investigations (soil, sediment, surface water, pore water, groundwater, soil gas, and indoor air)
  • Familiarity with various drilling methods (direct‑push technology, hollow‑stem auger, sonic, rock coring, air/mud rotary)
  • Experience supporting investigations of contaminants (metals, VOCs, SVOCs, PAHs, PFAS, etc.)
  • Experience with RCRA and CERCLA remediation projects
  • Strong communication skills: excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to convey complex technical concepts
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Self‑Starter: Highly motivated, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously
Experience
  • 12 years of experience as an environmental professional, with at least five years in consulting
  • Previous project management experience with federal clients is required
Certification and Training

40‑hour HAZWOPER certification is required; GIT/PG or EIT/PE is preferred; OSHA Supervisor Training is preferred; OSHA Construction and General Industry 30‑Hour Training is preferred.

Education
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, geology, or a related science is required
