POSITION SUMMARY

Spicer Group is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Water Resources Service Group as a Design Engineer in our Dundee office. Our award‑winning group specializes in innovative storm‑water drainage, flood control designs, dam design and inspection, storm‑water management plans, in‑stream and stream‑bank restoration, and lake level control structures. The role involves preparing designs, specifications, calculations, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, cost estimates, and other support across projects in the region.

WORK DETAILS

A TYPICAL DAY ON THE JOB
  • Perform assignments that develop professional knowledge and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Execute specific portions of broader assignments under experienced engineer guidance.
  • Apply standard practices, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through detailed steps or processes.
  • Assist in preparing design plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications.
  • Assist in preparing calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and other supporting documentation.
  • Assist in preparing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations.
  • Utilize computer software (HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, SWMM) for hydrologic and hydraulic studies.
  • Draft plan using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS software.
  • Direct and review the work of technicians.
  • Serve as onsite project representative on construction sites.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in an engineering field.
  • Knowledge of HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, and SWMM modeling software.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro software.
