Manufacturing Engineer Primary Function

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvements in the Tank production systems. This includes tasks such as problem solving, data analysis, evaluating requirements, making recommendations, partnering with various team members, and managing projects of various size and complexity.

• Work with operations, quality, maintenance, and anyone else necessary to troubleshoot and resolve various manufacturing issues
• Leads multiple continuous improvement projects using lean manufacturing and problem solving techniques
• Plan, justify, procure, and implement new equipment, tooling and fixture needs to support existing and anticipated production requirements.
• Create cost comparisons and return on investment calculations for various capital investment project to improve production
• Improve and support new and existing operations, methods and processes for cost reduction, safety improvements, quality and efficiency improvements
• Creates and maintains work instructions
• Conducts studies in operations to maximize workflow and spatial utilization
• Performs capacity analysis and related studies used for short term and long-term manufacturing planning
• Independently compiles data and analyzes results for project or team review

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field
• 10+ years of experience in a customer focused manufacturing environment
• Experience trouble shooting and resolving issues related to various manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing practices and processes including Lean Manufacturing and various problem solving techniques
• Ability to lead a cross-functional team for on various problem solving root cause investigations.
• Ability to quickly grasp and implement new ideas, concepts and programs to improve departmental efficiency
• Ability to coordinate and manage multi-functional projects through structured Project Management principles
• Strong problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills
• Ideally has some experience in metal fabrication (forming, stamping, welding, coating, etc.)
• Ideally has some experience in robotic welding and material handling
