Basic Functions Under the supervision of the Building Engineer Supervisor, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for engineering design upgrades to ensure continuous electrical operation of installed systems to include the maintenance and repair of the Embassy Compound Electrical Power Distribution Systems, both interior and exterior. Included among these components are the Generators;
Voltage Regulators;
Transformers;
Medium and Low-Voltage Switchgear;
Automatic Transfer Switches;
Motor Control Centers;
Distribution Panel boards and Sub
- Panels;
Feeder Wire and Cabling;
Branch Circuit Wiring;
Lighting and Power Outlets, and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Systems. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operations and Maintenance Support: 50% Serves as the Subject Matter Expert and oversees the operations and maintenance of large, complex, electrical systems and equipment including emergency generators and power generation equipment, medium and low-voltage switch gear, motor control centers; distribution panel boards and sub-panels; transformers; voltage regulators; automatic transfer switches;
feeder wire and cabling; branch circuit wiring; lighting and power outlets, the fire alarm system and components, and uninterruptable power supply systems. Resolves complicated complex electrical problems with minimal disruption to the Embassy Compound operations and restores these systems to their designed operating parameters and efficiency. Oversees an aggressive and comprehensive preventative maintenance program for critical and non-critical equipment and systems by directing subordinate electrical technicians from the facility maintenance staff, and/or monitoring contracted service providers, ensuring they use KPIs to analyze equipment and system performance, and that their repair and service techniques are code and life safety compliant.
Maintains; monitors; troubleshoots; configures; identifies; isolates and corrects faults; performs diagnostic tests; ensures the proper operations of designated equipment and systems. Oversees the electrical operations and maintenance of Operating Leased properties to include large, complex, electrical systems and equipment including emergency generators and power generation equipment, medium and low-voltage switch gear, motor control centers; distribution panel boards and sub-panels; voltage regulators;
automatic transfer switches; feeder wire and cabling; branch circuit wiring; lighting and power outlets, and uninterruptable power supply systems. Resolves complicated electrical problems with minimal disruption to operating leased operations and restores these systems to their designed operating parameters and efficiency. Develop an in-depth working knowledge of the general contractual and detailed requirements of the construction contract for the Post managed projects and other Agency Projects as appropriate.
Observe the execution of construction to assure adherence to approved drawings and specifications, inspect construction workmanship, materials, methods of equipment, and report to Building Engineer Supervisor as to their conformity and non- conformity to the approved drawings and specifications. Make recommendations to the Building Engineer Supervisor on how to correct deficiencies and resolve problems during construction. Work independently and maintain daily construction surveillance logs ensuring contractor compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract as warranted between the construction contractor and the host government.
The value of construction contract oversight will not exceed $250,000. Management and Logistic Support: 35% Focused on all components of the electrical systems, the Electrical Engineer provides budget input for operating, maintenance and repair, and replacement costs to include all tools, special equipment and spare parts required to maintain all systems within the designed operational performance requirements and within operating budget limits.
