Location: Brooklyn

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing
accurate, competitive, and profitable cost estimates
for commercial, industrial, and select residential electrical construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and proposals to determine total project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.

The Electrical Estimator works closely with
project managers, engineers, vendors, and clients
to ensure bids are complete, timely, and aligned with company goals and operational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and scope documents to identify electrical requirements.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical materials, equipment, and systems.
  • Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs to develop accurate project estimates.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
  • Prepare competitive bid proposals that meet profitability and deadline requirements.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, labor units, and pricing models.
Project Coordination & Support
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure estimates align with project scope, constructability, and execution plans.
  • Assist with value-engineering alternatives to meet client budget objectives.
  • Provide complete turnover packages and support to project management teams after bid award.
  • Participate in post-bid reviews and lessons-learned meetings to improve future estimates.
Documentation & Communication
  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation for all estimates, revisions, and historical cost data.
  • Prepare clear and concise estimate summaries, scope letters, clarifications, and exclusions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to clarify scope, pricing, and assumptions.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2–5+ years of experience estimating electrical construction projects (commercial and industrial preferred).
  • Electrical apprenticeship or hands-on field experience is a strong advantage.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical systems, and construction practices.
  • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Accubid, Con Est, McCormick, Plan Swift, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation capabilities.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet tight proposal deadlines.
