About the Role
Seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist to support plant operations and assist the Plant Manager in meeting corporate safety, health, and environmental objectives. This individual will serve as a key partner to operations, helping maintain compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and environmental regulatory requirements while driving a strong, engaged safety culture within the facility.
Key Responsibilities Safety- Manage and facilitate the MSHA Part 46 Training Plan , including new miner training, site‑specific training, task training updates, and safety‑related documentation.
- Partner with Corporate HSE to maintain compliance with Client Safety Standards at the plant level.
- Assist with MSHA inspections , interfacing with inspectors, miner representatives, and corporate safety personnel.
- Review citations, provide documentation, and support determining challenges where appropriate.
- Lead or support Good Catch, Near‑Miss, First Aid, and Incident Investigations , including root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support and participate in plant Safety Committee activities, ensuring meeting minutes, follow‑ups, and employee involvement.
- Conduct internal safety audits and ensure follow‑through on safety‑related action items.
- Review health monitoring data alongside Regional Safety Professionals.
- Ensure corrective actions from health studies are documented and implemented in the corporate auditing system.
- Prepare and submit quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual environmental reports , including Title V, GHG, TRI, and Emission Inventory requirements.
- Coordinate with Corporate HSE for source testing , environmental compliance checks, and permitting needs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental performance and compliance with Client Uniform Environmental Standards.
- Support rollout and implementation of new environmental standards across plant operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene , Safety, or related field (or equivalent experience) .
- 2+ years of experience in safety/health regulations, environmental compliance, or industrial hygiene (MSHA/OSHA experience strongly preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to positively influence decision‑making at all levels.
- Ability to lead, train, and engage employees in a safety‑first work culture.
- Working knowledge of regulatory reporting, environmental compliance, or industrial operations preferred.
- Experience in mining, aggregates, cement, or heavy industrial environment .
- Prior exposure to MSHA compliance.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and investigation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic plant environment.
