** Role Purpose*
* The EHS Engineer reports to the EHS Manager and is responsible for evaluating, developing, implementing, and sustaining workplace safety and health programs in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, ISO 14001/45001, corporate EHS standards, internal management systems, and industry best practices. This role partners with site leadership and employees at all levels to strengthen safety culture, manage risk, and drive measurable continuous improvement.
** Key Responsibilities*
* + Analyze safety risks and develop, implement, and maintain action plans, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, Corning safety policies, ISO 14001/45001 requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Set up processes to conduct suitable and sufficient safety assessments that proactively identify hazards and reduce risk including but not limited to hazard identification & risk assessments, pre-startup safety review, job safety analysis, PPEHA, ergonomics, machine guarding, and hazardous energy.
+ Analyze work tasks and environments using industry and Corning accepted ergonomic assessment methods/tools and drive improvements that reduce risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
+ Lead incident, injury, near-miss, and property-damage investigations; determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
+ Partners with operations, maintenance, engineering, human resources, and environmental teams to integrate safety into daily operations and project planning to grow and sustain a safety culture aligned with Corning's values.
+ Conduct or oversee third-party industrial hygiene evaluations to identify workplace hazards, assess risks, and identify exposure trends.
+ Perform trending analysis to improve EHS performance by gathering data, developing reports, identifying gaps, evaluating risk, and implementing improvements.
** Key Responsibilities (continued)*
* + Organize, evaluate, and participate in internal audits and inspections.
+ Ensure the Emergency Response Plan remains current with regulatory requirements and site needs.
+ Respond to plant emergency events to mitigate and control impacts, stabilize conditions, and support the timely restoration of normal operations.
+ Ensure programs for contractors and construction projects are implemented consistent with Corning standards, regulatory requirements, and best management practices.
