The Center Line Fire Department is currently accepting applications for Paid-on-Call Fire Fighters. To be eligible, applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 18 years old, reside within 5 miles of city limits, have no criminal record, and maintain a good driving record. Candidates must also possess Michigan Fire Fighter I & II certifications. All individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be given an interview.
Paid-on-Call Fire Fighters may provide coverage during nights and weekends. This part-time position responds to alarms or requests for service, acts in emergencies such as storms and medical emergencies, extinguishes fires, and performs service work as directed. Fire Fighters work under the supervision of the Fire Chief or a designated supervisor.
CompensationAll fire gear is provided, and fire fighters receive a uniform allowance along with an hourly wage. The city will sponsor qualified applicants willing to pay for their own fire academy; sponsorship will reduce the cost of the academy for the applicant.
Conditional Employment RequirementsEmployment offers are contingent upon passing a Physical Abilities test, a thorough background investigation, and a physical exam including a drug screen.
