POSITION SUMMARY:
The Area Director of Utilization is responsible for the training and oversight of the team members in each center in the assigned area completing the RAI Process, Restorative nursing, and other functions of the Utilization Department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBISITLES:- Input data into the RAI computer system
- Schedule completion of RAI following state and federal guidelines.
- Coordinate/supervise documentation/completion of MDS, CAAs and Care Plans by the interdisciplinary team.
- Screen each Minimum Data Set (MDS) for accuracy before finalizing, validating and signing.
- Transmit RAI data
- Ensure that a full resident assessment is completed upon admission of each resident, annual assessment, and when a significant change of condition occurs. Ensure that comprehensive assessment, quarterly assessments are completed as scheduled. Ensure that PPS assessment are completed per the required CMS required schedule.
- Ensure that the required tracking forms are completed per the RAI and state requirements.
- Must have a current license;
Registered Nurse (RN), in good standing in the state as assigned. - Minimum of one year of long term care experience and familiarity with RAI preferred. Must have had previous experience as a MDS coordinator.
- Must possess an understanding of skilled nursing center Medicare requirements of eligibility.
- Must show the ability to read and write in English, and in a legible and understandable manner.
- Must have adequate computer skills, to accurately input data into the MDS and transmit that data; complete spread sheets; ability to navigate the CMS and other state resource sites; ability to communicate via email; and to pull reports from various computerized sources.
- Must possess effective leadership skills, demonstrate organizational skills, and must have knowledge of state and federal regulations for long-term care.
- Must have a sincere caring for and interest in the elderly and have the ability to relate positively to resident, their families and to work cooperatively with other team
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Strong communication skills to interact with personnel, residents, families, and support agencies.
- Ability to read, write, and visualize medical records accurately.
- Ability to remain calm under stress, think clearly, make decisions, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
