The Patient Services Representative (PSR) / Phlebotomist serves as the front-line representative for patients seeking routine testing or insights into life-defining health decisions. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring a safe, accurate, and professional patient experience while maintaining strict confidentiality standards.
EssentialJob Duties
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection following established procedures.
- Prepare, process, and accurately label specimens for laboratory testing.
- Explain procedures clearly and establish patient trust and confidence.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature post-venipuncture to confirm correct labeling.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection as required.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Work independently under the guidance of an area supervisor to complete daily activities on time.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Promote a positive organizational image to patients, clients, and the public.
- 2–3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions using established procedures and judgment.
- Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
- Must be available to work all scheduled shifts, arrive on time, and remain for the full shift.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination.
- Time Zone:
All shifts, all days of the week. - Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
- Reliable personal transportation required (public transportation, Uber, or rideshare not considered reliable).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required if applicable.
- Must be able to cover multiple Patient Service Center and in-office locations with minimal notice.
- Epic experience preferred.
- Site may require additional credentialing.
- Must comply with all company policies, including dress code, health & safety, and Everyday Excellence guiding principles.
