Transportation & Tort Litigation Attorney

Plunket Cooney, one of the largest and most accomplished law firms in the Midwest, is looking to add a Transportation Litigation Attorney to their dynamic team.

Location:

Detroit, MI or Bloomfield Hills, MI.

We are looking for a motivated legal professional to join a collaborative team with a strong reputation for excellence, while also building their own practice in a supportive and well‑established environment. The ideal candidate will be a versatile, client‑focused attorney with a proven ability to handle complex litigation matters. This role offers significant client contact and the opportunity to work on a wide range of challenging cases in both state and federal courts.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of litigation experience, preferably in defense matters, transportation law and litigation practice including PIP and SIU experience.
  • Proficiency in the independent handling of litigation files such as commercial auto, PIP fraud investigations, premises liability, general negligence, property damage, construction and/or personal injury related.
  • Experience handling Michigan no‑fault, third‑party & commercial auto liability and network transportation claims.
  • Courtroom experience in Michigan state and/or federal courts.
  • Knowledge of and experience with local rules and court procedures.
  • Excellent research, legal brief writing and communication skills.
  • Experience in all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, taking depositions, and arguing motions.
  • A strong commitment to professional excellence and ongoing development.
  • A demonstrated ability and desire to grow a client base and expand existing relationships.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • A J.D. from an ABA‑accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Michigan Bar in good standing.
