Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

A growing industrial manufacturing company is seeking a Buyer to support the procurement of materials used in the production of machinery and related products. This individual will manage purchase orders, communicate with suppliers, respond to MRP requirements, coordinate material deliveries, and help ensure materials are available to support production schedules.

The ideal candidate will have previous buying or planning experience in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of MRP systems, bills of material, inventory management, and supplier communication.

• Process and maintain purchase orders.
• Review purchase orders for pricing, quantities, specifications, and delivery requirements.
• Respond to MRP messages and purchasing requirements.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding availability, lead times, pricing, and delivery dates.
• Coordinate incoming materials to support production schedules.
• Monitor backorders and expedite late or critical materials.
• Negotiate supplier pricing and business terms.
• Update purchase orders with supplier-confirmed information.
• Support cost-reduction, quality, and on-time delivery initiatives.
• Identify potential material shortages or production setbacks.
• Partner with internal departments to resolve supply-chain issues.
• Maintain accurate purchasing information within the ERP system.
• Assist with inventory and planning parameters, including safety stock and lead times.

• Bachelors degree in supply chain or a related field with at least two years of buying or planning experience, or at least three years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of MRP systems.
• Understanding of bills of material and material management.
• Previous purchase-order and supplier-management experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

This is a Permanent position based out of Tecumseh, MI.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $67000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
