The Dublin San Ramon Services District is recruiting for a regular, full-time Mechanical Supervisor in the Mechanical Maintenance Division of the Operations Department.
Under direction, organizes and provides direction and oversight for a section of a comprehensive mechanical operations program of the District which may include water, wastewater, and recycled water equipment, fleet, energy co-generation systems, and facilities repair and maintenance functions and activities; ensures that division operations and maintenance functions meet applicable laws, regulations, and District policies; performs routine to complex mechanical duties;
and performs other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will bring a balance of supervisory skill, technical expertise, and commitment to safe, efficient operations. They will demonstrate:
- Leadership & Supervision – Proven ability to plan, organize, and direct mechanical maintenance staff while fostering accountability and professional growth, team development experience, setting and maintaining transparency standards, fostering a culture of integrity and resilience.
- Technical Expertise – Hands‑on experience with motors, pumps, compressors, engines, hydraulics, HVAC, water/wastewater systems and supporting equipment and preventive maintenance practices.
- Operational Excellence – Skilled in resource allocation, workflow monitoring, and computerized maintenance management systems to ensure quality service delivery.
- Safety & Compliance – Strong knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and emergency repair procedures, with a track record of enforcing compliance, confined rescue team experience, fluent in confined space entry procedures and protocols, and familiar with traffic controls.
- Communication & Collaboration – Clear and effective communicator, both written and verbal, skilled at fostering positive relationships across divisions, external agencies, and the public.
Receives direction from the Mechanical Superintendent. Exercises direct and general supervision over technical staff. For information on the essential functions and duties of the positions, please view the Class Specification.
The minimum qualifications described on class specifications represent the typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the job. Any combination of education, licensing, and/or experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job satisfactorily may qualify the candidates to be considered for open positions in the class specification.
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade and two (2) years of responsible work experience comparable to a Dublin San Ramon Services District Senior Mechanic, including two (2) years in a lead capacity.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONSPossession of a Class C Driver's License required by the State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles, to perform the duties of the position. Continued maintenance of said driver's license in compliance with established District vehicle operation standards, and the ability to be insured for the operation of a vehicle/District vehicle in accordance with the terms and conditions of the District's insurance program are conditions of continuing employment.

Possession and maintenance of a California Water Environment Association Mechanical Technology Grade III certification is required upon appointment: possession and maintenance of a Grade IV certification required within two (2) years of appointment.
Possession of a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care Provider certificate and First Aid certificate is required within one (1) year of employment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSIncumbents in this class are required to participate in the District's Shave-on-Demand policy when required to wear respiratory protection or other safety equipment.
