The Production Planning Manager leads the team responsible for high-level planning and detailed scheduling for tube mills and slitters, material forecasting, inventory management, Toll Processing for Heidtman Tubular (HTP) business, and steel acquisition from Heidtman Steel (HSP). This role ensures accurate forecasting, customer satisfaction, and efficient production scheduling, serving as the critical link between customer requirements and production to guarantee timely order fulfillment.

The position requires both knowledge of current HSP/HTP processes and the ability to help reimagine these processes as part of a holistic Production Planning department.

• Provide timely responses to sales in support of customer inquiries and quotations, to ensure customer orders are fulfilled in accordance with lead time expectations.
• Create job sets for Scheduling and Operations to align and run in facility.
• Enter and manage customer NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) for defects and paperwork issues.
• Align sales forecasts with production and inventory planning, ensuring forecast accuracy and making proactive adjustments as needed.
• Monitor and coordinate with scheduling, operations, and logistics teams to ensure customer commitments are consistently met.
• Oversee inventory positions, resolve holds and obsolete material issues and submit purchase requisitions to align with demand and margin targets.
• Monitor open sales orders and create job sets for scheduling and operations to support on-time delivery.
• Coordinate sourcing, processing locations, and logistics to ensure cost-effective and efficient fulfillment of customer orders.
• Communicate regularly with Sales and Operations to ensure smooth execution and high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Lead the Production Planning team to ensure efficient operations.
• Match demand in ERP with customer needs through effective forecasting and demand planning.
• Prevent overstock and align supply with demand through inventory and procurement alignment.
• Key metrics:
  Customer OTD (On-Time Delivery), mill downtime and efficiencies, forecast accuracy %, inventory turns/days on hand.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field; or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of experience in tube mill operations or steel service center operations, with exposure to inside sales, supply chain, or inventory management preferred.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
• Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, both internal and external.
• Ability to balance detail orientation with strategic process enhancement for the HTP division.
