Quality Inspection - 2nd Shift Part-Time
The Quality Inspection Tech will work in the quality lab to inspect first pieces, in-process and final inspections to ensure final product meets all company and customer requirements. This is a hands‑on position for someone with experience measuring parts and preferably working in a cutting tools environment. The 2nd shift position will be the sole inspector on the shift and should be able to work independently and well within a team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform inspections on tooling and other manufactured items to determine conformance to all specifications.
- Utilize various measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, gages, etc.
- Must be able to measure a part of a surface plate.
- Understand and perform to all current quality standards.
- Experience in ISO policy and procedures is a plus.
- Prepare and update company and customer inspection records as required.
- Communicate inspection results effectively with co‑workers and supervisors.
- Understand and use concepts like absolute position, geometric tolerance and stack‑up.
- Use basic statistical techniques for evaluation of measurement data and trending.
- Basic understanding of machining to support findings to the production floor.
- Perform safe operation of machines or equipment used.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Support plant safety procedures.
- Attention to detail.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Quality – Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
- Dependability – Team mentality with a cooperative and consistent work attitude.
- Communication skills – able to articulate quality issues to team members.
- High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of relative experience.
- Requires great attention to detail and the ability to read drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience machining or quality inspection.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Frequently required to talk and hear, and occasionally to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently 25 pounds, and occasionally 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
