Quality Inspection - 2nd Shift Part-Time

The Quality Inspection Tech will work in the quality lab to inspect first pieces, in-process and final inspections to ensure final product meets all company and customer requirements. This is a hands‑on position for someone with experience measuring parts and preferably working in a cutting tools environment. The 2nd shift position will be the sole inspector on the shift and should be able to work independently and well within a team.

• Perform inspections on tooling and other manufactured items to determine conformance to all specifications.
• Utilize various measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, gages, etc.
• Must be able to measure a part of a surface plate.
• Understand and perform to all current quality standards.
• Experience in ISO policy and procedures is a plus.
• Prepare and update company and customer inspection records as required.
• Communicate inspection results effectively with co‑workers and supervisors.
• Understand and use concepts like absolute position, geometric tolerance and stack‑up.
• Use basic statistical techniques for evaluation of measurement data and trending.
• Basic understanding of machining to support findings to the production floor.
• Perform safe operation of machines or equipment used.
• Accurately complete all required paperwork.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Support plant safety procedures.

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of relative experience.
• Requires great attention to detail and the ability to read drawings and specifications.
• Previous experience machining or quality inspection.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
• Frequently required to talk and hear, and occasionally to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently 25 pounds, and occasionally 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is usually moderate to loud.
