Location: Moscow
Basic Functions Assistant Chef provides support to the Chef and has duties such as maintaining supplies, handling leftovers, preparing food, testing new recipes, cleaning the kitchen, keeping cooking utensils organized, and plating dishes. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Assists Chef in all phases of food preparation.
- Prepares canapes, snack foods and cookies.
- Arranges food on serving trays.
- Set up kitchen areas.
- Cleans kitchen and service areas.
- Arranges food on buffet tables.
- On occasion, serves food and beverages.
- Shops at local markets and Embassy Commissary as directed.
- Maintains food and supplies inventories.
- Ensures cleanliness and proper organization of food storeroom.
- Lifts and carries case lot quantities of consumables to storeroom.
- Maintains cleanliness of all food preparation areas and equipment.
- All duties and responsibilities are subject to review and amendment by the Ambassador.
- Such duties may be in the home/place of business of the Ambassador or at other locations as directed by the Ambassador or his designated representative. Must be prepared to work frequently in evenings and on weekends.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Some formal education or training in hospitality, culinary and/or catering.
- Minimum 1 year experience with food preparation including cooking and plating meals.
- The ability to carry out tasks quickly and competently - Knowledge of sanitary norms and requirements.
- Experience in serving formal receptions and private dinners is preferred.
- Top Secret clearance required
* Must be a U.S. Citizen.
