Job Summary:

The Meat Cutter is responsible for preparing, cutting, trimming, and packaging meat products to customer specifications while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and sanitation. This role ensures that meat cases are well‑stocked, attractively displayed, and compliant with all health regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats such as beef, pork, poultry, and seafood.
  • Prepare and package meat products for display in service and self‑serve cases.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized work area, including tools and equipment.
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate stock to minimize waste.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, labeling, and signage for all meat items.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and occupational safety procedures.
  • Provide friendly and knowledgeable service to customers; take special orders or custom cuts as requested.
  • Assist with inventory, receiving, and storage of meat products.
  • Stay informed of current specials, promotions, and product availability.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience as a meat cutter or butcher strongly preferred.
  • Strong knife skills and familiarity with meat cutting tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of USDA regulations and food safety practices.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be dependable, safety‑conscious, and able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Working Conditions
  • Cold and refrigerated environments (meat prep and storage areas).
  • Frequent exposure to raw meat products, sharp tools, and equipment.
  • Requires standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive hand motions.
