Job Description

Merchandiser Responsibilities
  • Displays beverage merchandise on shelves, showcases, and on the sales floor of a retail store.
  • Arranges products according to prearranged plans or approved ideas.
  • Places price and descriptive signs on backdrops, fixtures, merchandise, or floor.
  • Transfers product from customer stock room to floor displays to comply with “Sell By” dates, maximize product in store, and minimize product in stock room.
  • Orders product for assigned accounts in accordance with established procedures to prevent out-of-stock conditions.
  • Originates display ideas or follows suggestions or schedules of the Merchandiser Manager and Sales Manager.
  • Communicates effectively daily with key store personnel on any service or product needs.
  • Constructs or assembles display aids from company-provided POS materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other supervisors.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions in all units of measure and formats, and interpret rate, ratio, percent, and graphs.
  • Some states require employees to be 21 years of age or older when promoting, merchandising, and delivering alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Attendance, punctuality, attention to detail, customer service, dependability, reliability, drive, productivity, safety, and self-management.
Physical Demands

Employee must regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms; frequently talk or hear; occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds using a hand-truck or other manual lifting device. Specific vision abilities required: close vision and ability to adjust focus.
