Life Insurance Specialist - Traverse City, MI

Job Overview

Full time. Compensation includes a $5,000 sign‑on bonus, an annual base pay of $28,500 (non‑exempt, eligible for overtime), and unlimited commission potential. Payment terms: $2,500 paid after 30 days and $2,500 paid after 90 days of employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solicit and sell life & health insurance and annuity products, working primarily within ACG branch location.
  • Achieve established sales goals using thorough knowledge of product features and marketing and sales techniques.
  • Develop leads and prospects through outbound/inbound calls, mailings, referrals, networking, website, seminars, etc.
  • Prepare proposals, close sales of life, health, annuity, membership, and financial services products.
  • Complete appropriate applications, forms, and internal processing procedures in accordance with company policies.
  • Collaborate with branch staff to maximize leads, sales opportunities, and cross‑sell opportunities.
  • Assist underwriting and brokerage departments in satisfying requirements.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and problems, ensuring sound sales practices.
  • Prepare reports documenting prospecting and sales activities, maintain production standards and persistency levels.
Qualifications & Licenses
  • Valid State Life Sales licenses.
  • Ability to take and pass LUTC or CLU coursework.
  • Maintain required Life and Health licenses.
  • Valid State driver’s license.
  • Must qualify for and maintain all applicable state licenses and appointments required for selling/servicing Auto Club Group Membership products.
Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with a proven record of soliciting and selling life insurance products.
  • Experience selling intangible products.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong working knowledge of Life Insurance and Annuity products.
  • Ability to listen to and analyze customer needs, making appropriate recommendations.
  • Effective communication of complex information in a clear manner.
  • Ability to prepare proposals and conduct closing interviews.
  • Assess customer insurance requirements and write policies consistently with company standards.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to determine premiums and values.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Prospect and develop new sales opportunities and meet production requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to attain business goals.
  • Strong communication skills with branch partners and management.
  • Articulate tax and legal impacts to customers.
  • Strong organization, planning, time‑management, and administrative skills.
  • Professional representation of Auto Club Life.
  • Safe operation of a motor vehicle for travel to meetings or community events.
  • Proficient writing skills for routine correspondence.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient PC skills (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, email).
