Yard Worker Position SummaryThe duties of a yard worker can vary and can include, but are not limited to:
- Loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment. Must be able to receive multiple orders and organize them when loading them onto trucks or within the yard.
- Assisting in maintaining our MOT devices onsite as well as various equipment.
- Assisting in building cages.
- Keep the yard/warehouse clean and organized.
- Must be a safe worker who can lift 90 pounds without assistance, occasionally up to 160 pounds, with assistance. This position also requires you to frequently stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and bend.
- Welding on occasion.
- Must be willing to work outdoors.
- Occasionally operate various equipment to move materials around the yard.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Valid Driver's License, CDL A or B (preferred but not required).
- Works well in a team environment where situations and demands change daily.
- Reliable source of transportation.
- Effective Communication Skills.
- Experience operating construction equipment.
- Experience as a material handler.
- Experience operating yard equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools.
- Welding.
- Ability to accurately read a level and a tape measure.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, climb, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, view, and create written documents. The employee uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb ladders or uneven terrain. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, such as operating and repairing vibrating machinery, using wrenches, hand tools, etc.,
and operating motorized equipment and vehicles. The employee must lift or push/pull objects up to 90 lbs., occasionally without assistance up to 160 lbs. with assistance.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
All employees are subject to a pre‑employment drug screen & background check on their MVR driving records before they can begin working at Action Traffic Maintenance, Inc.
Salary: $16.00 per hour
