Mountain Event Crew: Races & Course Setup

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Race Manager, the On-Hill Event Crew facilitates races and events that happen on the mountain, including venue preparation, working the event, and teardown.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Meet department expectations including Great Service, Quality Programming and Safe Snow Sports.
• Complete daily Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and projects as assigned.
• Follow policies and procedures.
• Prepare start and finish areas for events/races.
• Install fencing and closures.
• Help set courses.
• Perform general course maintenance: slipping, shoveling, raking.
• Assist with timing of events, including set-up of equipment.
• Announce event results over PA system.
• Help with set-up of race communications and use communication equipment as needed during races and meets.
• Complete course dismantling after events/races.
• Responsible for the removal, storage and maintenance of equipment.
• Report and/or correct unsafe conditions regarding equipment, venue, or elsewhere on the mountain.
• Promote work area cleanliness.

Job Specifications

Competencies:

• Ability to navigate intermediate and occasionally advanced terrain on skis or snowboard, often while carrying equipment.
• Clear and concise verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Accurate data entry.
• Timely and dependable.

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical & Other Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Able to work any shift, weekends and holidays as schedule and weather dictates.
• Evenings, weekends and holidays are a regular part of the schedule.
• Must have excellent attendance and conduct record for consideration.
• Non-smoking candidates preferred.
