Materials & Process (M&P) Engineer - Polymers

Location: Middle River, MD

Salary Range: $64,400 – $95,800 per year

What YOU Will Do
  • Support the Research and Development of next‑generation composite materials, processes, and equipment for aerostructure applications.
  • Apply knowledge of materials science and engineering to develop, characterize, and test new materials and material systems.
  • Support the development of novel polymer systems and chemistries from formulation through to production introduction.
  • Utilize and maintain characterization techniques to develop critical formulation screening tools.
  • Support the development of engineering processes, methods, and tools.
  • Participate in a research and development environment developing new materials and associated manufacturing and application processes.
  • Limited domestic/international travel may be required (up to 20%).
What YOU Must Bring To Succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • Understanding of polymer structures and properties and chemical and mechanical testing techniques including FTIR, DSC, DMA, and rheology.
  • 0–5 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Technical knowledge in one or more of the areas of adhesives, composites, metallics, polymers/elastomers, or high‑temperature materials.
  • Familiarity with 3‑D CAD software (CATIA, Solid Works, NX, or similar).
  • Operational knowledge of materials characterization lab equipment.
  • Familiarity with statistical software, including Minitab, JMP, or similar.
  • Proactive and efficient delivery of communication and follow‑up.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work in a timely manner.
  • Access to export‑controlled technology requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. Candidates must be U.S. Persons or fall within a legally recognized export‑control exception.
