Who You Are And What You Can BecomeWe are seeking a hands‑on, cross‑functional Lead R&D Composites Engineer to join our Advanced Technology team, supporting new development projects. This role is ideal for a leader with a passion for materials innovation, rapid prototyping, and getting ideas into real‑world hardware. You will work across materials research, tooling, testing, and manufacturing development to accelerate new composite technologies. You will collaborate with various internal functional groups and outside entities, such as research institutions and suppliers.
The lead engineer should be self‑driven, resourceful and highly collaborative. An ability to manage multiple projects within time constraints is required.

At ST Engineering MRAS, we are also rapidly augmenting our maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities leveraging the company’s expanded aircraft nacelle portfolio as well as its materials and processing expertise.
- Composite Part Design and Manufacturing
- Lead the design and development of composite parts for technology demonstrators.
- Develop, refine and industrialize new composite manufacturing processes to maximize component properties, reduce energy use and improve yield.
- Evaluate tooling methodologies for rapid prototyping.
- Ensure new material and/or process compliance with internal specifications and industry standards.
- Provide recommendations for material or process adjustments based on performance deviations and end‑use requirements.
- Leadership & Project Management
- Lead R&D projects, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.
- Manage vendors, suppliers and external technology partners.
- Support team initiatives and resource planning.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years experience in manufacturing or a related engineering field
- Proficiency in CAD modelling (e.g. Solidworks, NX, CATIA, or equivalent) and familiarity with mechanical testing
- Experience in tooling fabrication processes
- Familiarity with composite fabrication techniques
- Desire to work hands‑on in lab and pilot manufacturing environments
- This position involves access to export‑controlled technology which requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. A ‘U.S. Person,’ as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62, includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, individuals lawfully admitted for permanent residence (green card holders), and individuals granted asylum or refugee status in the United States. To be considered for this position, you must either be a U.S. Person or fall within a legally recognized export control exception or authorization.

Background in rapid prototyping and R&D environments
