Hygea Healthcare has a brand-new, 50-bed substance abuse detox facility in Middle River, MD , and we’re building a team of passionate, ethical, and energetic professionals to make a real impact! If you're dedicated to supporting individuals on their recovery journey, we want to hear from you!

As a Substance Use Counselor , you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals overcome substance use disorders through individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based practices. This is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to change lives, grow professionally, and be part of a mission-driven team. We are looking for CERTIFIED or LICENSED counselors, open to working Sunday - Thursday 1pm - 9pm or Wednesday - Sunday 1pm - 9pm.

Requirements
  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Active SUD Counselor certification (CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LCADC, LCPC, LCSW, LGPC, LGADC, LGSW)
  • 2+ years of experience in substance use disorder treatment (detox experience preferred)
  • Strong crisis management & de-escalation skills
  • A team player dedicated to making a difference
Job Summary

The Substance Use Counselor’s role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder. The Substance Use Counselor will provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to assist recovering individuals in preventing relapse and promoting long-term recovery. The Substance Use counselor will use an outcomes-based approach and evidenced-based practices to achieve results.

Essential Job Functions
  • Conduct confidential, quality assessments, that are gender-responsive and trauma-informed, utilizing ASAM criteria to determine the appropriate level of care.
  • Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and internal and external Hygea Healthcare treatment team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family sessions, using evidence-based modalities and interventions.
  • Work with a diverse and passionate team of professionals who share your vision and values.
  • Receive ongoing training and supervision to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge.
