Overview
At ST Engineering MRAS, we are a pioneer in the production and assembly of complex aerostructures and related components. This role focuses on setting up, operating, and overseeing computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines, with emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The position requires coordination across shifts and clear documentation of machine and tool conditions.
What YOU Will DoThis role works from manufacturing process plans, NC setup documents, tool orders, drawings, and related information. Core responsibilities include:
- Load fixtures, cutting tools, and tool holders; set up the machine; preset tools to the correct torque values.
- Verify machine readiness, fixtures, tooling, and NC programs before starting production runs.
- Check work pieces for conformance to dimensions and specifications; perform multiple production runs with periodic inspection.
- Document actions in production and quality logs; interpret XYZ axis movements and safely jog machines to avoid collisions.
- Maintain equipment, follow preventive maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions, and notify supervision of needed repairs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area; operate lifting equipment as required and safe to do so.
Qualifications and capabilities include knowledge of G and M codes (basic), reading drawings, and using precision measuring tools. The role also involves tracing tool life, fixture condition, and communicating status to the next shift and supervision.
What YOU Must Bring To Succeed- HS Diploma / GED or equivalent
- Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant CNC machine operator experience, or a trade school certificate with 2 years in CNC operation
- Working knowledge of machine operation setup and NC machines; ability to read sketches, drawings, and specifications
- Familiarity with the machine shop math for setting fixture offsets and tolerances
- Ability to read and interpret calipers, height gauges, micrometers, dial indicators, and related measurement tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Mobility to move, walk, and operate on machine tables and stairs regularly
- Effective use of communication tools (email, radio, company messenger) to report issues or concerns
- Ability to work in shop conditions with exposure to dirt, fumes, heat/cume and noise; ability to obtain and maintain Crane/Hoist Certification
- Knowledge of multi-axis machine movement; ability to operate manual milling and turning equipment; understanding of tolerances and GD&T
- Ability to train and guide less experienced employees on CNC operation and manufacturing processes
