Butler Automatic is the inventor of automatic splicing, and the largest global manufacturer of automatic web splicing equipment for food, pharmaceutical, printing and consumer packaged goods markets. The company’s splicers are used to manufacture many different products including stand‑up pouches, flexible pouches, film bags, paper bags, business forms, envelopes, disposable diapers, wallpaper, fiberglass insulation, and corrugated cardboard.
General Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and release controls and pneumatic bills of material and assembly documentation for procurement & fabrication of automated splicing systems
- Use Allen Bradley, Siemens, IDEC, and other PLC controls and HMI software to create and maintain control for Butler products
- Use AutoCAD to develop electrical schematics, pneumatic schematics and control panel layouts
- Support sales group through custom controls cost estimating and providing technical support
- Maintain information as related to the design or specification of new components
- Assist manufacturing group in the assembly and debug of systems
- Interface with customers in the development of system specific performance requirements
- Work with the service group to support on‑site start‑up and repair activities with occasional requirement of travelling to customer sites, both domestic and abroad
- Work toward continuous product improvements and cost‑reduction
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 7‑10 years of relevant machine automation experience
- Strong proficiency in Allen Bradley, Siemens, and IDEC software and AutoCAD schematic development
- Proficient in PLC control and programming, servo controls, electrical components and circuits
- Knowledge of pneumatic circuits and control
- Proven ability for technical problem resolution
- Experience in web‑handling systems and/or vertical or horizontal form‑fill‑seal packaging (VFFS or HFFS) machines for use in food‑processing environment is highly advantageous
- Knowledge of UL508A, CE, NFPA
79 requirements - Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects in various stages of completion
$100‑$150k, based on experience, plus PTO, medical and dental insurance, 401(k)
