The Echo Tech performs cardiac ultrasonography, specifically echocardiograms, stress echos, and transesophageal echos (TEEs) in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, ED, and intraoperative. He/she supports the operation of the CVS Department, including processing reports, scheduling patients, and providing back-up to Cardiovascular Techs (performing EKGs and stress testing). The Echo Tech also participates in the on-call rotation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EducationHigh school diploma and successful completion of an accredited echocardiography training program.
Required length and type of experience1 year of clinical experience or successful completion of an accredited echocardiography training program.
Required licensure, certification or registryRegistered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as a Registered Cardiac Specialist (RCS) OR registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR registry eligible with agreement to pass registry within 1 year of employment.
