Stewardship & Environmental Educator - MALT/VHCB – Ameri Corps
The Middlebury Area Land Trust (MALT) mission is to connect the community with the lands we protect through conservation, recreation, and education. MALT’s Vision 2040 aims to make Addison County a model of sustainable land stewardship where healthy natural and human communities thrive. As a member, you will collaborate with regional partners to develop and update management plans, implement land‑management projects, and engage land stewards and volunteers.
Position:
Half‑time (915 service hours, average 40 hours per week) from May 4, 2026 to October 30, 2026. Member receives a living allowance of $16,147 (pre‑tax) and an education award of $3,697.50 (pre‑tax) upon successful completion. Additional benefits include health insurance, federal school‑loan forbearance, and training/networking opportunities.
- Conduct field visits to monitor conservation easements and fee‑owned lands with the stewardship team.
- Assist with habitat improvement projects.
- Develop and implement educational materials and curriculum.
- Engage land stewards, volunteers, and youth participants to build relationships with MALT and the community.
- Represent MALT at community events to strengthen partnerships.
- Participate in an Independent Service Project under the guidance of VHCB Ameri Corps.
- Participate in all VHCB Ameri Corps Program initiatives & outreach activities to promote Ameri Corps.
