Part-time Dining Room Associate

Middlebury College Dining is searching for reliable, motivated employees who are needed to perform a variety of important functions in the dining room area to ensure that food items are neatly presented and available to the students. This includes keeping salad bars and other food areas well stocked and cleaned throughout meal periods.

This position is a part time, non-benefited, hourly position. The starting pay for this position is $16.94 per hour.

Responsibilities include:

• Food Preparation & Serving:
  Maintains various workstations in the dining rooms, this includes restocking: salad bars, deli bars, bread, fruits, desserts, and other items during meal periods and in preparation for the next shift.
• Customer Service:
  Answers students’ questions in a polite, courteous manner and ensures the food presentation is consistently attractive.
• Dining Area Maintenance:
  Busses and sanitizes tables; assists with the general cleanup of the dining rooms throughout meal periods to maintain the appearance of the dining room.
• Dishwashing:
  This position may need to assist in the dish room or the pot sink area. If assigned, the job may include bussing or loading soiled dishes, glassware, and silverware into/from the dish machine and unloading and stacking clean items in storage areas in the dining room and kitchen.
• Sanitation & Safety:
  Follows all Vermont Health and sanitation guidelines as well as safety protocols and policies of Middlebury College.
• Team Communication & Efficiency:
  Updates Supervisor/Manager on difficulties with scheduling or time off requests in a timely manner.

Physical Demands

• Must physically be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day.
• Must be able to lift full glass racks and coffee racks above waist level. Requires frequent and repetitive bending, reaching, twisting and overhead reaching.
• Requires frequent walking and long periods of time standing.
• Must be able to work in a hot and humid environment.
