Speech-Language Pathologist

The Speech-Language Pathologist is accountable for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with communication disorders. The role includes assessment, habilitation, counseling, coordination of care, and case planning.

• Conduct speech and language diagnosis to assess the patient's communication skills.
• Record and interpret diagnostic information in a written report and make recommendations based on the test results.
• Provide habilitative and rehabilitative services to communicatively disabled patients to restore communicative efficiency.
• Provide counseling and guidance to speech and language disabled individuals.
• Coordinate treatment of the patient with other health professionals.
• Formulate case plans based on patient needs and abilities, including participation of the patient and family, as well as criteria for discharge from the program.
• Provide related in‑service training for health care professionals and aides.
• Conduct screenings to identify those needing further evaluation.
• Participate in team conferences.
• Prepare and maintain necessary reports on a timely basis.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Master’s Degree and Certificate of Clinical Competence or an equivalent statement in Speech Pathology issued by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association, or documented equivalent training and/or experience.
• Must meet licensure or registration requirements of the state(s) where working.
