Consultant Obstetrician

Job summary

The post holder will complement and develop existing services through the provision of specialist knowledge & expertise in High risk Obstetrics. The post holder is therefore required to have full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid licence to practice and be on the specialist register for Obstetrics & Gynaecology or be within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.

This is a substantive replacement post to commence as soon as possible. The post holder will join a team of existing Obstetric Consultants and be part of a Fetal Medicine team to form a larger team of Consultants in Obstetrics and/or Gynaecology based at the James Cook University Hospital.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder is expected to contribute to on call duties (4th on call, non-resident) supporting specialist resident doctors (second and third on call) and another junior resident doctor (first on call), and occasionally 3rd on call whenever there is a gap at the senior registrar tier but this is shared by all consultants. There is the opportunity for extended roles within the fetal medicine and obstetric teams
