About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our established civil engineering client in Teesside. The successful candidate will play a key role in pricing and securing a wide range of Pre construction civil engineering projects, including roads, drainage, sewers, and plotworks.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing contractor with a strong pipeline of secured and upcoming works.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering projects

Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation

Undertaking material take-offs and quantity measurements

Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations

Preparing bills of quantities and schedules of rates

Assessing project risks and value engineering opportunities

Liaising with clients, engineers, and the commercial team

Attending pre- and post-tender meetings as required

Supporting handover of successful tenders to the delivery team

Project Types

Section 278 & 38 roadworks

Section 104 & 106 drainage and sewer installations

Foundations and plotworks

Infrastructure and associated civils packages

Requirements

Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering

Strong understanding of roads, drainage, sewers, and plotworks

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office

Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines

Desirable

HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline

Knowledge of NEC and other standard forms of contract

Experience working with developers and local authorities
