An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of B5 Occupational Therapist in the acute adult mental health wards at Roseberry Park hospital in Middlesbrough.
The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality patient focused care in a hospital setting.
You will manage a caseload independently, assessing occupational performance and delivering specialist occupational interventions, demonstrating adherence to the Trust Values at all times.

Main duties of the job- Occupationally focused assessments and interventions delivered as part of a dynamic service delivery model with a strong commitment to collaborative working.
- Deliver high quality evidence based services that support recovery, occupational formulation and occupational engagement. Include 1:1 and group occupational therapy.
- Receive requests for occupational therapy, triage and prioritise them.
- Complete evidence-based assessments and interventions addressing key occupational areas of self‑care, productivity and leisure.
- Use client‑centred approaches to co‑produce negotiated occupational goals and evaluate them with service users collaboratively.
- Participate in clinical/professional and management supervision.
- Contribute to multi‑disciplinary team working.
- Contribute to service improvement and quality initiatives.
- Use the Trust electronic patient record system.
- Abide by all Trust policies and procedures.
- Respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.

Person Specification Qualifications- Appropriate professional qualification in occupational therapy role (or pending)
- Registration with HCPC (or pending)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 7 for international recruits
- Postgraduate training in relevant specialist area
- Experience of working in a variety of practice areas during student placements (or postgraduate)
- Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary team
- Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice
- Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
- Knowledge of the evidence base for the clinical practice area
- Record keeping and report writing
- Collaborating with service users and carers/families in accordance with principles of co-production
- Good observational skills and ability to describe such observations verbally and in writing
- Able to work flexibly and cooperatively as part of a team
- Delegates tasks appropriately
- Applies latest research evidence and evaluative thinking in practice
- Ability to adapt treatment using own initiative
- Compassionate in meeting the needs of vulnerable people and their families and carers
- Ability to work alone in a variety of settings using initiative appropriately
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Completion of Preceptorship programme and competency framework within 1 year of starting post (or pending)
