Commissioning Electrician

Position: Commissioning Electrician (Permanent)
We are working with a respected engineering business specialising in pump rental and water solutions, seeking a Commissioning Electrician to join their technical operations team covering projects.
This is a key position responsible for the commissioning, testing, and optimisation of electrical pumping systems, ensuring every installation operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
The role offers the chance to work across varied projects, taking ownership from final installation through to customer handover.
Key

Duties & Responsibilities

* Carry out commissioning and functional testing of pump system installations including level controllers, inverters, PLCs, and associated control equipment

* Verify electrical systems against specifications, performing inspection, testing, and certification to required standards

* Troubleshoot and resolve electrical or control system faults during commissioning and handover

* Collaborate with installation teams to resolve on-site issues and implement long-term preventative measures

* Produce detailed commissioning reports, documenting configurations, test results, and recommendations

* Deliver customer handovers, including operational guidance and commissioning documentation

* Support continuous improvement initiatives, promoting safety, efficiency, and system reliability across projects
Skills & Experience Required

* Proven experience commissioning and testing electrical systems within industrial, utilities, or pumping environments

* Strong understanding of 3-phase systems, PLCs, HMIs, control circuits, and instrumentation

* Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings

* Excellent fault-finding ability with a methodical, problem-solving mindset

* Working knowledge of BSIET Wiring Regulations) and other relevant safety standards

* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation

* C&G 2382 – 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations

* C&G 2391 – Inspection, Testing & Certification

* ECS Gold Card (JIB Registered)

* Full UK Driving Licence (max 6 points)

* Strong communication and reporting skills, able to liaise effectively with internal teams and customers

* Proactive, organised, and capable of managing time effectively across multiple projects
